WHEN YOUR LUCK’S OUT…

There is certainly not much luck going around in favour of Queens at the moment, after failing to capture a much deserved point at Firhill on Saturday, and with the team firmly stuck to the bottom of the 1st division, the chance of a money-spinning 3rd round league cup tie was in the offing as the draw was made on Monday afternoon. With the draw being a seeded event, it was a known fact that Queens would get the chance to play against a team from the SPL. So once the draw had been made, Queens were left to reflect on the fact that out of the four 1st division clubs still left in the competition, they were the only side drawn to play away from home, as Ayr, Falkirk, and Ross County all received glamorous home ties, with one of them almost certain to get extra revenue from television coverage. For a few brief minutes the dream of Celtic or Rangers at home was a distinct possibility, until reality set in, and a trip to Rugby Park to face Kilmarnock was announced. On current form you would have to say that the chance of a shock is very unlikely, but with Gus MacPherson returning to one of his old clubs, you just don’t know what will happen-and who knows, a game against either of the ‘Old Firm’ may still be within the realms of possibility.
