It will be bottom against top on Saturday as Queens host league leaders Hamilton Accies at Palmerston, in a game of vital importance for Gus MacPherson’s side. Struggling at the wrong end of the table, Queens will go into the game as underdogs against an Accies side who are unbeaten in the league, and have only suffered one defeat in their opening 8 games of the season.

Queens will have a full squad to chose from, apart from the injured pair of Dan Orsi, and Marc McCusker(who’s he ?) as they aim to end a run of three successive league defeats. The visitors should have three former Queens players in their squad, Derek Lyle, Willie McLaren, and David Hutton, although they will be without the experienced pair of Simon Mensing and Mark McLaughlin due to suspension.

It is 3 years since Hamilton last played at Palmerston, and coincidentally they topped the table on that day as well, when two Stephen Dobbie goals(those were the days) saw Queens take a well earned point. Earlier in that same season,Queens recorded a 2-1 home win against the Accies who were again at the top of the table, that win saw Queens move off bottom spot, and a similar outcome on Saturday would be most welcome.
