1st HALF GOAL BLITZ STUNS LEADERS…

QUEENS 4-1 MORTON

A superb first 38 minutes saw Queens swamp league leaders Morton at a rain soaked Palmerston this afternoon, and 3 goals in eight fantastic minutes, had Queens leading 4-0 at the interval, and Kevin Smith already negotiating with the referee about keeping the match ball. Visitors Morton were completely overwhelmed by Queens in the first half, and although the 2nd half never reached the heights of the first 45 minutes,it was Queens who could have added to the score several times before Morton scored a late consolation goal. The midfield was dominated by Queens, with McKenna and Simmons being solid in the middle, and Johnston and McLaughlin playing equally well on the flanks. Hat-trick hero, Kevin Smith linked well with Brighton, and the defence and Lee Robinson were solid for the whole game. This was a strong team performance from Queens, and the confidence that they will take into their next game should ensure that  fans who go to Rugby Park for Tuesday’s Communities cup clash with Kilmarnock will travel with a good deal of hope that a cup upset may be on the cards.

Brighton 7-Linked well with Smith, very good header for his goal.

Smith 9-Undoubted man of the match performance, good direct attacking play, full of confidence after his 3 goals.
