NO SCORE BORE…..

QUEENS 0-0 DUNDEE

Queens and Dundee shared the points in a very scrappy and largely uneventful encounter on Saturday in a game that highlighted why both teams are currently at the wrong end of the table. The game will be one that won’t remain long in the memory as for most of it both teams simply cancelled each other out. Some goalless games provide good football, entertainment and excitement, but unfortunately for the 1649 fans who witnessed this game, it just didn’t happen in this one, and infact the best chance of the game didn’t arrive until the 90th minute when Dundee substitute and former Queens player Ryan Conroy, almost snatched a dramatic late winner.

For Queens this was the 3rd game in a row without a goal, and since scoring 4 goals in 38 first half minutes against Morton, they have not found the net once in 317 minutes of football, which is clearly a worrying statistic. On the positive side, the point ended the losing run, moved Queens up a place in the table, and earned Lee Robinson his 2nd clean sheet of the season. With no game for 14 days, Queens now have plenty of time to work on a few things before the season resumes with a very hard looking away trip to Falkirk. Below are my own ratings for the game, agree or disagree? why not give me your thoughts…

Robinson  6 – Never really troubled, good save from Riley

A.Reid         6 – Looked more comfortable at right-back

Higgins      6 – Good solid game

Simmons  4 – Missing for most of the match, decent shot       near the end

Campbell  7-Another solid defensive display

McGuffie   8-  Man of the match for me, never put a foot         wrong all game

Johnston  6-A few nice passes, but little else

McKenna  6-Not as effective as usual, probably due to             early booking

Brighton   4 -Not really suited to lone striking role, not           his best performance

Clark            5-Drifted in and out of the game too much

Carmichael 7- Only player who looked capable of causing   problems

Subs

Holt             4- Struggled to adapt to pace of the game
