FIRST QUARTER COMPLETED….

With the first 9 league games now completed,Queens find themselves just one goal away from bottom position having taken just 8 points from a possible 27, and only Dundee are below them at this stage of the season.

At Palmerston, from 4 games, it’s 2 wins, a draw and a defeat with 2 clean sheets, but the away form is dismal, 4 defeats and just a solitary point from 5 games. With no clean sheets in any league games away from Palmerston, and with only 3 goals scored, it’s not hard to see why Queens have struggled, but on many occasions, they just have not had any good fortune  on their travels, conceding late goals in 5 games, all of which would have seen Queens take points and their league position would have looked a lot healthier as well.

Whilst the results and the statistics don’t lie, they don’t tell the full story either, as manager Gus MacPherson has had to contend with injuries and suspensions to the extent that he has had to make at least one change to every starting line-up in the opening 9 league games, and that trend looks set to continue for the game against Raith as Craig Reid and Danny Carmichael must be doubts for the match at Kirkcaldy.

The second quarter of the season will once again see Queens playing 5 games away from Palmerston, starting at Raith on Saturday, and including difficult games at Hamilton, Morton, Dundee and Partick, with 4 games at home against Livingston,Partick,Ayr and Falkirk- a lot of points to play for-as Queens aim to climb up the table.
