Queens slumped to their 13th league defeat of the season on Saturday as they were beaten 2-1 at league leaders Ross County, the result, along with wins for both Ayr, and Raith, means that with just 10 games left to play this season, Queens are now 4 points adrift at the foot of the table, with relegation becoming a distinct possibility.

The appalling run of form that Queens are on has seen them win just 2 of their last 16 league matches, and with games running out, it seems as though the fight to stay in the division may prove to be too much for a team that has quite clearly under-performed for most of this current campaign.

Having gone behind after 23 minutes in Saturday’s clash, Queens got themselves back into the game when Ryan McGuffie equalised after 57 minutes, but leaders, and champions elect County, sealed the win when Michael Gardyne scored with 15 minutes left and in doing so extended their unbeaten league run to 22 games. So with just 10 games left in this miserable season, Queens may have to win as many as 5 of those games if they are to give themselves any hope at all of playing 1st division football again next season, but after only being able to record 5 wins all season, this looks likely to prove to be a task that will be beyond them, and the writing may already be starting to appear on the wall. One thing is for certain, the game at Palmerston this weekend against Raith Rovers is certainly a game that Queens must win!!!!
