Gavin Reilly was the Queens hero in this afternoon’s clash at Palmerston after coming off the bench to score the winning goal, and to give Queens a massive boost in their fight for 1st division survival.

In a game which was far from a classic, Queens probably just about shaded a pretty dull first period, although neither side produced what you would call a real clear cut chance. The 2nd half was slightly better, and was lit up by Reilly’s strike from 25-yards out that flew into the net to send Palmerston into raptures. With another home game to come next weekend against Partick, today’s win has given Queens a much needed boost, and hopefully they can take confidence from this vital win.

Sponsors choice for man -of-the-match went to goalkeeper Lee Robinson, who produced one splendid save and showed quality handling throughout the game, but for me best player was Alan Reid, defended well, passed well, and supported the attack when able to do so, by far his best performance for Queens. Also thought that Stephen McKenna showed up well, nothing fancy but did the ‘dirty work’ really well. Not a great game or performance, but who cares, the win was all that mattered today.
