Another outstanding performance from the 2nd Division champions saw Queens equal Gretna’s 2005/06 record points total, and with 2 games of the season still left to play, there is every chance that a new 2nd Division points record will be set, which will add even more gloss to a season that has been so successful for Queens.

On Saturday at Forfar, Queens were back to their sparkling best, and were ahead when Michael Paton rounded off a superb move to open the scoring, his 3rd goal for Queens, all of which have been scored at Station Park. After the break, Queens were just too strong for their hosts, and the Country’s leading scorer, Nicky Clark, bagged his 2nd hat-trick of the season. His total for the season now stands at 29 league goals, and 38 in all competitions so far, and with 2 games to go, he could still equal, and possibly beat Jimmy Rutherford’s 41 goals in a season which is still a Queens record.

The goal that earned Clark his hat-trick, was also Queens’ 50th league goal scored away from home this season, a feat that no other team in Scotland have yet managed. With the final home league game of this exceptional season taking place at Palmerston against East Fife this weekend, if Queens avoid defeat, they will set a new total points record, and will also have gone unbeaten at home during the league campaign, another brilliant statistic in what has been an unbelievable campaign.
